Using Your Favourite Travel Articles As Self-Guided Tours + GIVEAWAY

I don’t know about you guys but, when I arrive in a new city, one of the first things I like to do is take myself off on a self-guided walking tour, usually by using hundreds of screenshots of my favourite travel blogs and google map directions (because Wi-Fi is limited and I’m not a millionaire so can’t afford data roaming charges.) Although the screenshot approach has been okay so far I’ve always wished there was an easier, less inconvenient, way to navigate my way around.

Well the travel gods have heard my prayers and given me GPSmycity, a travel app which features some of your favourite travel blog posts (including some of mine which you may have read already on this blog) in the form of self-guided tours- which you can access from anywhere, whether you have internet access or not. Sweet.

How it works

GPSmycity takes a travel blog post- either one listing cool things to see and do in a city, or one which acts as a guide to a particular building like a museum- and lets you download it to your phone, meaning you can read it anywhere at any time without the need for internet access. There are hundreds and hundreds of these articles, which cover cities from across the globe, so no matter where you are in the world you’re almost guaranteed to find a guide.

If you like what you see in the article and want to follow in the writers’ footsteps, for a very small fee, you have the option upgrade that article and turn it into your very own guided tour, complete with a map which guides you to the places using a GPS signal. It’s got everything you need in one handy, offline, app- and it’s cheaper than paying a tour guide. Woo!
