My Goals For March 2018

February has been super busy (and weirdly short compared to the 10,000 day long January we just had), so I’ve not really had much of a chance to do anything. As a result I’ve let my blog fall by the way-side, I’ve not been that active on social media and I haven’t got any posts ready to publish.

That will all (hopefully) change in March as I’m officially unemployed (I quit 6 weeks ago but couldn’t really leave until the end of Feb) so I’ll have a chance to look for work that makes me feel inspired and makes me want to get out of bed in the morning. I’ll be able to write more and hopefully start to feel better in myself.

 

Here are my goals for the month of March:

 

Personal Goals:

Have a great trip to Warsaw: I booked these flights way back in December because Ryanair had a sale on. So far I haven’t booked a hostel or anything as I’ve been feeling like I shouldn’t go. I’m going to force myself to get on that plane because I think a few days away, meeting new people, exploring a new city is just what I need right now!

 

Find a new job: I graduated almost two years ago and I’ve been stuck in a rut ever since. I’ve been working in the office of the company that I worked for part-time whilst I was at university and I’ve hated pretty much every second. I quit that job because, at the start of this year I had a realisation of If I don’t quit and force myself to find something else I never will. My degree will go to waste and my dreams will die with it. Dramatic, I know, but it did the trick! I have enough money saved to sustain myself for a couple of months so I won’t have to jump into a crappy minimum wage job to support myself; I have enough time to find one that will finally put me on the right track.

 

Start volunteering: Back when I lived in Leicester I went through training to volunteer for a charity which mentors offenders at the end of their prison sentences to help them re-integrate into the community and settle back into life. I couldn’t go through with it as I had started commuting to Nottingham everyday and had no free time. But I’ve just find out they also have a branch here so I’ve sent off for an application form so I’ll finally be able to volunteer for them. And if they don’t want me I’m going to try for something else.

 

Apply for my masters degree: I want to start a masters in forensic psychology this year so I need to apply asap if I want that to happen. I’ve already written most of my personal statement but I need to start volunteering so I have something else to put in it…

 

Writing/ Blog Goals:

Pitch a few article ideas to publications: I’ve always had this dream of being a psychologist and a writer on the side, so I’m going to try and aim for that. I’ve already got a few ideas either written as notes or swirling around inside my head. If you have any recommendations for great publications that accept contributors (paid or unpaid) then please let me know!

 

Start writing a mental health series I have an idea for: I’ve wanted to do a series on my blog for a while now and, since I have some time on my hands, I’m going to try and put it together soon. Reach 2000 Twitter followers: My Twitter followers have stayed stagnant for so long and it’s about time I hit that next milestone. Come follow me if you don’t already!

 

Reach 1500 Instagram followers: My Instagram engagement has never been worse; every time I gain a follower I lose ten more. If I don’t post for a few hours I lose followers. It’s getting exhausting and I know social media isn’t all about the followers but I’d love to get my numbers back up. Come follow me if you don’t already!

 

Post at least twice a week on here: This is going to be the most difficult one as, if I’m writing a blog post, I always think I should be doing something more productive. However, now I have all the time in the world to dedicate to everything I want to do I will be able to post at least twice a week.

 

So, that’s what I want to achieve this month. Hopefully I’ll do it all!
