Ahh lovely, gorgeous, underrated Milan. It’s really easy to assume you won’t like Milan before you go but there’s so much to see and do that it’s a real shame that so many people overlook it. Many people have it in their heads that Milan is only worth a visit if you’re into football, art galleries or designer fashion but it’s so much more than that.
Myself and a friend visited at the beginning of May and we both went with no prior expectations. Neither of us are really into shopping or football but we soon discovered that that didn’t matter at all. We visited the Duomo, had way too many apperol Spritz’, ate so much great food, wandered around some art galleries, learnt a lot about Milan’s history from museums and Szforza Castle, saw a lot of good dogs (Milan seems dog-obsessed which is great) and fell in love with the edgy, hipster area of Navigli. There were no purchases of over-priced clothes or mentions of AC Milan and we did just fine.
If you remember from my Milan Bucketlist I said that I wanted to do a day trip, maybe to Lake Como or Verona. Well, we found so much to do in Milan that we didn’t have the time to do day trips. To be completely honest I would have liked to have gone to Verona at least but I don’t regret seeing so much of Milan. Many people in our hostel stayed for about one night and must have missed out on so much.
I’m planning on some more detailed Milan posts but, for now, I’ll leave you with these photos of Milan.
