A Christmas Carol Quote
The other day I remembered this lovely little quote from ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens, and, as a result of me feeling uncharacteristically festive, I had a sudden strong urge to write a blog post about it, so here I am…
Christmas time is the season where most people are feeling overly kind and generous towards their families, friends, and strangers (except when they’re gift shopping. The worst mistake of my life was when I decided not to do all of my gift shopping online this year!), but can you imagine how great the world would be if people continued showing this level of kindness and generosity throughout the year? This is why I think this quote is so lovely; it’s saying that they will keep this joyful spirit usually reserved for December for the rest of the 11 months of the year.
For all the joking I do about being a bit of a Grinch I do acknowledge that the festive period does evoke wonderful feelings and brings joy to the vast majority of people. Therefore, I do wholeheartedly believe that it should be honoured in your heart, regardless of what or why you celebrate, because what other time of year brings people together and cause mass excitement, joy, and generosity? I can’t think of one!
